Golden Gate State Park 06/16/2009 & 10/16/2019
These hikes are to Windy Peak and Coyote Trail near Tremont Mountain
in Golden Gate State Park.  It is located about 15 miles northwest of
Golden.  
The Windy Peak is a 7.4 mile hike with a vertical rise of 1200 feet.
The Coyote Trail hike was 2.2 miles and 650 vertical feet.
Forgotten Valley has a pioneer
cabin.

We come to a bootleggers cabin with an explanation about
moonshine
.
We get a good look at Mount
Evans in the distance
.
The trail is littered with gold aspen disks.
The panoramic of Mt. Evans (right) next to
Chief and Squaw Mountains.
As we go back we find an off trail to the ruins of a power roller.
We reach the altitude of
9481' and decide to go
back down

As we leave the park the
parks ridge of mountains is
off to the north
