Jones Pass South
This hike is on the CDT from Jones Pass (altitude 12,493) and went south
for 2.7 miles.  Due to weather we stopped at the peak east of Pettingell
Peak.  The CDT at Jones Pass goes north and south.
 It also includes a
drive over Jones pass to the west on October 7, 2019.

On August 9, 2019, our drive up to Jones Pass
There was still so much snow we
do not think it will all be melted
this year.
On August 9th the snow still
blocked the road.
The wildflowers were spectacular.
The snow was melted on the
same spot on October 7th.
On October 7th, 2019, we
returned to drive over
Jones Pass to the other
side of the CDT.
There was no snow at the top of
the CDT ridge of Jones Pass
.
We started down the far side.
Soon we were in trees.  The road
was very good.
We passed a mine.
There is a maintenance shed.
We came to a Y in the road.
Both roads were blocked by a gate.
So we went back to the east
side of the valley to explore
.
