King Louis XIV was the king who built Versaille.  Two
generations later the cost and lavishness of the palace
would end the monarchy with the French Revolution.
Prior to the invention of the printing press monks would print the bibles
with very elaborate designs.  It would take months to do one page.
Here is an example.
There are many paintings from all
periods of history.
There are many works of art from
all periods of history.
There are many works of
furniture  from all periods of
history.
There are mockups of palace
rooms from the kings and queens
of the past.
The museum is an attraction for
tourists as well as school
groups.  What a
n impressive
and informing collection to
experience.
